Conference Objectives

2021 marks the 10th anniversary of the term Industry 4.0 (“smart” factory technology) and the beginning of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Artificial intelligence, robotisation, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, 3D technologies, virtual and augmented reality are becoming a part of our daily existence before our very eyes. Unlike previous industrial revolutions, 4.0 is changing not only production technologies, but also socio-economic relations. The introduction of artificial intelligence and digitalisation of industry changes the role and place of the individual in it and the entire structure of society.

Although the implementation of “4.0 Technologies” in various industries and countries is not happening at the same speed, according to the forecasts of the World Economic Forum, most of the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution will become everyday reality by 2027. According to the forecast of the McKinsey, by 2025 the cumulative economic effect from the introduction of the industrial Internet alone will amount to 11 trillion dollars a year. This means that those companies that take an active part in the Fourth Industrial Revolution today will very quickly recoup their investments and gain tangible competitive advantages.

Currently, many enterprises and industries in Russia and Eurasian Economic Community are going through the final stages of the Third Industrial Revolution. This involves development and integration of information and communication technologies, automation and robotisation of production processes, infrastructure modernisation, etc.

Despite the specifics of various industries and the levels of penetration of 4.0 technologies, almost all industrial enterprises are faced with common questions, the answers to which have yet to be formed.

What the Conference Offers

Modernisation of production is often associated with high costs. The benefits of implementing Industry 4.0 technologies are not always obvious. This is primarily true for enterprises with low level of automation, undeveloped infrastructure, and internal inertia. From this perspective, experience of companies that have managed to find effective and economically viable solutions for technological transformation and the creation of resilient business models is of particular interest.

The conference will offer an opportunity for presentation and discussion of cases of industry transformation using the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including:

Combining IIoT (Internet of Things for Industry) and Big Data for integrated real-time control of manufacturing processes.

Transition from metallurgy to composite materials and additive manufacturing (3D printing).

Development of 'green' energy and transfer of production to renewable energy sources.

Creation of self-driving transport systems.

Application of digital cloning technologies and creation of computer models of machines, equipment, and entire enterprises.

Application of machine learning to control production or perform other tasks.

Development of industrial applications of AR/VR (Augmented & Virtual Reality) technologies.

Development of cybersecurity systems.

Due to objective factors, the transformation of different sectors of the economy is evolving with the different speed and intensity. Some industries and companies have already accumulated vast practical experience in the creation of “smart factories” and addressing social and ethical issues triggered by the technological changes. In other industries, change is slower.

The conference offers a platform for presenting experience in creating “smart factories” and discussing the possibilities of their adaptation and scaling in various industries.

The fourth industrial revolution radically changes the role of humans, shifting many tasks to machines and artificial intelligence. By developing smart factories today, we prepare the foundation necessary for the future. What will be the role of individuals and communities in Industry 4.0’s industrial production? What kind of challenges will professionals face? What will the professions of the future look like and what needs to be changed in today’s education system? What skills do employees need to develop to maintain their relevance with the advent of new technologies?

The conference offers opportunities for the presentation of case studies and cross-industry discussion of the role of people in smart manufacturing of the future. The dialogue between the participants will allow a deeper understanding of the challenges ahead and will help with development of social strategies for “smart” enterprises.

The creation of innovative technologies and their implementation in production is a difficult and expensive process. The experience of previous industrial revolutions shows that most of the inventions required help from entrepreneurs who have invested enormous resources to turn science into business. Unlike the previous stages of industrial development, the timescale of developing idea into global business has been significantly reduced. Supporting innovation has become not only prestigious, but also profitable.

The innovation hub “Industry 4.0”, created at the conference, offers an opportunity for techno companies and service providers to present their solutions to end users and entrepreneurs.

Events Outlook

Online Events

The conference offers a new approach to organising events dedicated to the development of 'smart manufacturing'. A series of webinars will share innovative solutions and experience in implementing industrial transformation programs across various industries. The online format will help to extend the audience beyond Russia and to discuss industry-wide issues. It will also highlight the most interesting topics which will be presented at the conference in Moscow.

Virtual Exhibition

Technological transformation impacts almost all areas of human activity. Event Industry is no exception. The virtual SIC'21 exhibition is one of the world's first virtual tradeshows created in 3D environment. The exhibition presents unlimited opportunities for the presentation of technologies for industrial transformation of key sectors of the economy.

Knowledge Exchange

The 4.0 technologies empower companies with unprecedented solutions and opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs and ensure sustainable development. The integration of these technologies in various industries is happening at a different pace. The conference will provide opportunities for the exchange of practical knowledge from the early adopters of 'smart' technologies and creators of 'smart factories'.

Conference in Moscow

The conference will take place at a physical venue in Moscow. The content rich conference program covers the entire life cycle of industrial production. Leading experts and companies will present at the plenary sessions, panel discussions, business podiums and strategy sessions.

Exhibition in Moscow

An exhibition of smart technologies and solutions is organised in Moscow alongside the conference. In addition to physical and virtual booths, a part of the exhibition will be organised in a hybrid format. Internet kiosks integrated into exhibition booths will help to organise communication between visitors and exhibitors who are participating in the conference remotely.

Innovation Hub

The conference will provide opportunities for organising and promoting presentations of start-up projects and companies. At the first stage, companies will present at online events. Most popular presenters will be given the opportunity to speak at the conference in Moscow. Company presentations will also be presented in the Innovation Hub pavilion at a virtual exhibition.

Presentation Competition

Companies participating in the Innovation Hub program who have received most votes at the online stage will be invited to the competition finals held at the live conference in Moscow. Finalists' presentations will be organised in the form of business pitches. In addition to technical presentations, speakers will present business & monetisation plans and answer questions from the audience. The winners will be determined by the audience votes. The competition will culminate with the winner awards. Competitors will be given opportunities to organise meetings with mentors and potential customers.

Conference Materials

Materials of online events will be regularly published on the conference website. Access to those materials is provided by free of charge subscription. Webinars organised by exhibitors and conference sponsors are published at the virtual exhibition and are open to public. The materials of the conference organised in Moscow, will be available to the participants upon completion. Viewers will have access only to the conference sessions broadcasted live. After the conference they will be offered a paid subscription access to the collection of video recordings and presentations of all sessions.

Business Meetings

The opportunity to meet people with common interests is one of the most important components of any event. Thanks to our hybrid technology that combines digital and analogue approaches, the chances of meeting like-minded people at the conference are much greater. During online events, participants will be able to communicate with speakers in a virtual room and via chat. At the conference, communication is organised in thematic zones, divided by the interests of the participants. Participants will also be able to organise one-on-one meetings using personal scheduler application.
